Changes around Park Lane
During the Olympics officials, sponsors and the media will be staying in the hotels around Park Lane. There will be road changes and stringent security measures in place throughout the Olympics.

From Saturday 30 June taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs) will not be able to access the area in front of the Hilton as this will be completely sealed off for security reasons. Other changes will come into effect from the 30th with the traffic flow in Derby Street reversing and from 18 July Hertford Street becoming one-way only with no entry allowed from the roundabout at the Hamilton Place/Old Park Lane end of Hertford Street.

The centre of the road taxi ranks in Hamilton Place will remain operational throughout the Olympics but there will be changes to where taxis and PHVs should pick up and drop off passengers:

30 June – 17 July and 15 August – 17 August
·         Taxis should use the rank in the centre of the road in Hamilton Place facing north and will be called forward by staff from the Hilton when a taxi is needed for the hotel. Taxis will be able to pick up passengers in the breezeway, which is the road which runs through the Hilton from Hertford Street to Pitts Head Mews and is used to access the car park at the Hilton.

·         Taxis dropping off passengers and PHVs picking up and dropping off passengers for the Hilton should use the breezeway, which is the road which runs through the Hilton from Hertford Street to Pitts Head Mews and is used to access the car park at the Hilton

18 July – 14 August

·         Taxis should use the rank in the centre of the road in Hamilton Place facing north and will be allowed able to move forward and pick up passengers on the east side of Hamilton Place

·         Taxis should drop off passengers at the northern end of Old Park Lane, on the west side of the road near the Metropolitan Hotel

·         PHVs should pick up and drop off passengers at the northern end of Old Park Lane, on the west side of the road near the Metropolitan Hotel

25 July – 17 August

·         The taxi ranks in Hamilton Place which are not in the centre of the road will be suspended

From 18 August

·         The normal areas used by taxis and PHVs to drop off and pick up passengers, including the taxi rank in front of the Hilton, will be available

Staff from LOCOG and the surrounding hotels will be assisting taxi and private hire passengers throughout this period.

You can find maps showing the planned road changes around the Hilton Hotel and between Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner here.

There will be changes to some of the other taxi ranks in the Park Lane area and details of these are included in the Games handbook which is now available here.
