London Taxi and Private Hire launches new Twitter feed @TfLTPH

12/04/2012

A brand new Twitter feed has been launched by Taxi and Private Hire as a means to get relevant information directly to licensed taxi and private hire drivers and operators.

The feed will provide news, updates and important information like taxi rank suspensions, details of changes to licensing policy and forthcoming consultations. Initially we will be issuing around 2 or 3 tweets per day.

In addition, we plan to use the feed as a means to provide real time information during the London 2012 Games highlighting start and end times for events that are expected to create a significant demand for taxis and possible booking time changes for pre-booked PHVs.

Helen Chapman, Deputy Director of Taxi and Private Hire, said: “We were very conscious that both the taxi and private hire trades are increasingly using technology to stay in touch and to stay abreast of events. We hope that this new Twitter feed will enable us to communicate relevant information directly to the trades. After a couple of weeks of operations we already have almost 350 followers – but we want lots more. We hope that you will support @TfLTPH – please spread the word.”

The TPH twitter account will provide information only and will not be responding to tweets from followers. Any questions should be directed in the normal manner via TPH.Enquiries@tfl.gov.uk
